Creative Arts Network (CAN) Program

Art as a Path to Connection and Wellbeing.

What is the CAN Program?

We believe in the use of the creative arts to connect, cope, uplift, and provide a safe space for creativity.

Our mission is to provide a positive and inclusive community where artists of all types can prioritize their mental well-being, cope with outside stress, create in a safe environment, and potentially build genuine friendships through creative endeavors.

In our space, we lift each other up, give constructive criticism (when asked), and help to inspire one another. We remember that behind every screen is a real person, and that everyone is here to have fun, create, and recharge!

How the CAN Program Works:

    • Safe, Welcoming Spaces:
      • Participants join virtual sessions (for now) designed to be stigma-free, supportive, and inclusive
      • Everyone is encouraged to explore their creativity at their own pace
    • Guided Creative Activities:
      • Each session offers art prompts, music, writing exercises, or collaborative projects to help people express their thoughts and feelings
      • Facilitators guide the process without judgment
    • Connection & Community:
      • Beyond creating, participants connect with peers and mentors, building friendships and a sense of belonging
      • Small group discussions, sharing circles, and collaborative projects reinforce support and understanding
    • Resources & Continuity:
      • Materials, tools, and structured programs are provided based on funds so participants can continue exploring creativity
      • Regular programming ensures ongoing access and engagement
    • Peer & Professional Support:
      • The program integrates peer mentors and trained volunteers who understand mental health challenges, making sure participants feel safe, seen, and supported while expressing themselves.
